Unique Visitor

A term that refers to tracking / counter software on web sites. A tracking / counter code will track all the traffic that comes to a web site and will decide if a user is a unique visitor or a repeat visitor by their IP address. An IP address is a unique number for a web user and the tracking / counter software will store this, so if a user's IP address is recorded again when the user comes back to the web site the tracking / counter won't count the hit.
