Tiscali

Tiscali has it's headquarters in in Cagliari, Italy, and is a pan-European telecom's giant, which offers broadband in many countries. There has been numerous packages available including a free pay as you go dialup connection option, via a standard 56k modem.

As with most ISPs, Tiscali have offered additional free services alongside it's Internet access, such as free video mail, 6 email addresses, free online support, free instant messaging and a 100mb of web space.

Tiscali's growth gained momentum in the late 1990's by it's acquisition of numerous smaller ISPs across the European continent. It was founded in 1998, when the telecom's industry in Italy was deregulated. It's major acquisition in the UK was LineOne.

In June 2009 Tiscali was purchased by Talk Talk, who eventually plan to merge the Tiscali brand name with it's AOL and Talk Talk broadband brands. On a low note, Ofcom in 2009, found that Tiscali produced the slowest speed of any large broadband supplier in the UK.
