A Thumbnail image is a small graphic displayed on a web site that can be clicked upon and enlarged. One purpose of this is that thumbnail images load quickly and take up little space and allow users to decide whether they want to see a full size example of the image. Because thumbnail images are so small (around 60x30 pixels) it means web sites can include a large number of them on the same page and give the user a wide selection to pick from and view.
