Short for "random access memory" and is a type of memory where any byte can be accessed without touching the adjacent data. RAM is available to any program running on the computer. There are two main types of RAM which are 1, dynamic RAM (DRAM) and 2, static RAM (SRAM). Both of these types of RAM however only store memory for a small time and lose it when the power is taken off.
