This refers to the submission of a web site to a search engine or directory (Google, Yahoo). Lately there has been a variety of automated submission tools available which will automatically submit a web site to hundreds of search engines at once. The problem with this is search engines are beginning to ban and not accept information from automated submission tools. Therefore it is always better to manually submit a web site to a search engine.
