Image Map

Image maps can be inserted into web sites and are a garphical image (gif, jpeg) that contain hot spots (small areas created on the image, usually above text where you can insert a URL address). When loaded into a web page a hot spot will allow you to click it like a normal hyperlink so you can visit another web page. Image maps are useful if you want to retain a graphical feel for your hyperlinks and image maps can also be indexed by search engine just as easily as a normal HTML web page. A graphical software image package such as Macromedia Fireworks can create image maps.
