What Is HDTV?
This is a new form of TV broadcasting that should be released in
2006 for the UK. It will transform traditional programming and produce
unparalleled picture quality and pixel resolution. Alongside the
increase in picture quality, programmes will then be available in
Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Truely this means that programmes
and films on tv will be a cinema experience.
What Are The Benefits?
- Breathtaking realism from the picture quality.
- Digital surround sound.
- Enhanced detail and impact from the movies and sports shown
on television.
When Can I Get It?
Sky will begin broadcasting high definition television in 2006,
and this will be via a new Sky HD Box. Most of these will beable
to record programmes onto a hard drive as well.
Can I Get It On Any Television?
No sorry, you will have to get a television that is ready with
a EICTA logo. Most of the new tv's being released in 2005 have this
included. But you must make sure before you buy. To be compliant
with EICTA regulations a television must have;
- XGA screen with a minimum of 720 horizontal lines.
- Video input (YPbPr) supporting 720p/50 and 1080i/25 input.
- HDMI and DVI connection supporting HDCP.
