A Dialup connection to the Internet is a temporary connection and not dedicated like a web site host. Dialup Internet connections are established over a phone line using a modem. Dialup connections suffer from slow connection speeds unlike ISDN or broadband connections and are therefore being slowly replaced by broadband Internet connections.
