Device Driver

A device driver is a software file that contains information for operating systems such as Windows and Linux, so that they can understand a hardware peripheral such as a sound card or modem. Device drivers vary for specific platforms such as windows 95 or XP and are usually available for download from the manufacturer's web site. Device drivers are sometimes improved and updated by the manufacturer, so it can be a good idea to update your device drivers so that they are running at optimized rates.
