This refers to a web site that retrieves some or all of it's content from a database. A database-driven web site usually uses a programming language such as php, asp or perl to automate it's functions, rather than a "flat html" system. A database-driven system is usually used on web sites that contain a lot of information, such as an e-commerce web site that sells and provides information on products.
