More commonly known as a CD, compact disc's have been used to store computer data such as software applications like Windows operating systems for over a decade. For the majority of this time compact disc's have only been read only, but with the emergence of CD Rewriters compact disc's can now have data copied and data overwritten by new data(called CD-Rs and CD_RWs).
