Bottleneck

A bottleneck occurs when too many people are trying to access the same applications or files on a web server using TCP/IP. Bottlenecks usually occur when the network hardware (memory, CPU, motherboard, hard disk) isn't fast enough and cannot handle the traffic on the server. Another reason could be the bandwidth of the server being over stretched. Therefore when a bottleneck occurs on a network, there is usually a delay in transmission of data.
