Banners are used on web site pages to advertise products, internal web pages or external web sites. A lot of web sites relay on banner advertising on their web site to pay for hosting fees and other web site costs. For example a music site may contain banners advertising "HMV" or other commercial music web sites. Other web sites with high web traffic may also sell banner advertisement.
