AMD have recently begun to seriously compete with Intel for the title of top CPU manufacturer. AMD first became popular for copying Intel CPU technology and selling it at much cheaper prices. However AMD are now designing and manufacturing CPU technology developed by themselves and that is now being used as the standard CPU in computers such Compaq and Hewlett Packard.
