Developed by Microsoft to provide better interactivity to web site pages than those using only HTML. There are a host of different ActiveX controls you can add to a web site page such as structured graphics. ActiveX was created by combining two other Microsoft technologies called OLE "Object Linking and Embedding" and COM "Component Object Model".
