Sandbox

A term that has become popular amongst webmaster focusing on their Google search rankings. A sandbox is a software development space used for testing data sets, the advantage is that developers can do this without actually executing the code for all to see. A sandbox is used by most large online companies who provide an online 'service', and by search engine companies like Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google, who wish to test the quality of search engine results before going 'live' with them. In 2006 many webmasters have found their new sites in the supposed Google sandbox (mostly circumstantial evidence), the evidence currently suggests that a site needs to build up a 'trust rank' before being admitted 'live' into the Google results. Before this time the site will reside in the Google sandbox for testing of it's quality.
