Gaming & Multiplaying Guide

Multiplaying is a term referring to playing computer games against other players on either a LAN, a four player console like the Microsoft Xbox or over the Internet using a system such as Gamespy to find the games.

Some of the first multiplaying games were text-based adventure gaming like MUDs and MUSHs. A MUD (Multiple User Dimension, Multiple User Dungeon, or Multiple User Dialogue) is where a user takes control of a computerized character and can chat with other characters, explore dangerous monster-infested areas, solve puzzles, and even create your very own rooms, descriptions and items.

Online multiplaying with the advent of broadband in the UK has become much more advanced than MUD's, with nearly all PC games having multiplaying features. Some of the most popular games being Half Life, Quake and Doom. Consoles are also now developing online multiplaying systems such as Xbox live.
