Grokster did share all types of digital files through a proprietary network. Grokster was 100% free to use, it did track and remember up to 24 simultaneous searches. This peer-to-peer file sharing software used to connect to iMesh, Kazaa, and Morpheus users.

2010 Update: The Grokster service is now shutdown. They lost a copyright ruling in the United States Supreme Court. Their website still exists, but contains a warning about the pitfalls of sharing copyrighted material.

News - Mashboxx to purchase Grokster?
Added 20-09-2005

The File sharing service Grokster is in discussions to be acquired by Mashboxx. MashBoxx is the first p2p file sharing service authorised by major record labels. It's currently in Beta test stages. Grokster are currently under pressure to join the mainstream music industry, so the deal would make sense. Especially as StreamCast Networks' Morpheus file sharing service was on the losing end of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling. So as Grokster fights to survive, joining Mashboxx and it's industry support may be the only way it can. Financially Grokster is expected to have little or no value.
